Every supplier I talk to says they simply aren't paying their bills.
Without any efforts to work on some kind of payment plan.
So, even if this thing does open back up to 70-80% of recent volume, they are going to be hard-pressed to get product.

So something is definitely amiss there.

I get it.  We all need a little more time to make payments perhaps.
But that's simply bad business.  And telling.

Cheney spent millions on building state of the art facilities in Statesville NC and Greensboro NC. No return on investment means employees at all levels will be fired. The bloodletting has already started.

Cheney is hurting like all other broad liners. No Company has a magic bullet in times like these. Yes there has been people let go just like others this doesn’t mean they will not have opportunities to come back. Let’s face it, if you were a new sales person who was not 100% commission that Cheney or any other company had to pay, would you think that company would opt to keep paying that or let that salesperson get $200-300 in unemployment and $600 in assistances. They will do better not working for that company and collecting $800-900 a week.

If you are 100% commission then your accounts are contributing to the Benefit of all remaining employees so they are safe. These are hard decisions that were made and they are horrible to make. The industry will make major changes and all companies will have to figure it out and adapt, and I believe if you are an Independently Owned company that you can make changes and decisions more quickly as you do not have a board to vote nor stock holders to consider, what the owner says is the direction you go. Everyone hears about pay cuts and firings but Cheney also picked up more of every employees health insurance premiums, and has instituted a floor for all sales people that is a Minimum commission they would be subsidized just to name a few positives. Also, they have been cooking meals and putting together food for the public in need. Cheney is doing what it takes as all companies to survive through this time and will be back stronger than ever.

Cheney is going to have a hard time more than others, Your owners are having a hard time and even selling his boats and planes right now. Sorry "Chef"the arrogance of some of your DSM and sales folks in the NC market is crazy. You came in hear like a bull in China Shop. Low Balling alll CAB beef, sold on price only on other items and now the over extended, I loved the story of you guys not paying bills....gonna bite you bad. Oh and a base floor every company is still doing that hear in NC. Even in your message you sound cocky, Lets talk about how you guys gutted the flordia houses with canning folks. Talk about a "Family Company"you guys knee jerked fast in flordia.

We don’t have CAB in the Florida markets so I couldn’t begin to guess the pricing but you know as well as I do, the sales people set most costs on an item. I don’t know if the NC sales maybe not as seasoned as we are and give everything away, could be. Seem like they ruffled some feathers in that area when taking over. If that’s the case you would have to expect them to do so, they came to the Carolinas to establish themselves in that area. If u r in sales as a salesperson, do u not try and take everything u can for your own benefit? I mean it sucks but u know this is what we do as salespeople every day.

I don’t really know about what the owner is selling as per planes and boats. If he has these, it wrong for him to have owned a boat or a plane? If I owned a company I would strive to have a boat, probably not a plane for me but hey, if some owner of some random company he wants who am I to fault him. Out of all other distributors I am sure those owners and presidents of those houses had other nice things. I am sure he is not firing people so he can drive around on his boat. I don’t really see where I stated we didn’t pay our bills so I don’t really understand that part that u referenced.

I really have no intent to sound cocky, I know that we laid off many people and cut back hours and as I said we are doing our best as other companies are. I spoke with some of the laid off personnel personally and they told me they understood why it happened and they were looking forward to being back at CBI, so these are employees who actually had this happen to them. Everyone hears tons of stuff about all companies and has opinions. I can say that my district is fully intact and that we are working with the buyers and workers and all are appreciated.

It is a horrible thing to lose ur job temporarily or permanently with any place of employment, I am sure that all distributors are doing their best.

It seems as u have retained ur job and are still working, I think that’s great and only wish u well.
