They have been having rumors of him selling for years. He is not selling. If he ever takes a role out of the company then his nephews will run Cheney.

I am sure the rumors stem from those who hope he sells cause CBI eats their lunch LOL

Not sure where Investigator gets his information or why he has it out for Cheney Brothers but he is very, very wrong. Byron Russell of Cheney Brothers is of no relation to Samuel Russell of Russell and Co. nor is he related to any of the Russell's from Orlando who owned water and electric companies. But he posted it on the internet so it must be true...

You registered just to set the record straight? First of all I inquired , I didn't claim,  that Cheney owner Byron Cheney Russell is a relative of the opium trading Russell family. Secondly Foodie it was not the Russell clan that owned water and electric it was Judge John "Moses" Cheney. So strike two, shall we try for strike three?

What's interesting to me, is the Judge acquired huge tracts of land in Orlando and turned it into a hunting preserve for the wealthy, very similar to "Kings Ranch" in Texas, where the oligarchy including the Royal Family love to hunt wild game and god only knows what else they do.

If you read the article about Cheney employee and former disgraced Palm Beach Commissioner Warren Newell, the article states that the fund raising winding for Newell will be held at (and I quote) "Cheney Brothers boss Byron Russell's palatial hunting lodge in the Ranch Colony neighborhood of Jupiter". So there is a common "hobby" that Byron shares with the late Judge John "Moses" Cheney and at the same hunting grounds founded by the Judge.

Blue blood families like the Russell and Cheney's often intermarry, like the Forbes and the Perkins, or the Vanderbilt and Cecil families for example.

EST PALM BEACH — Now armed with a new executive job at Palm Beach Gardens food distributor Cheney Brothers, disgraced former Palm Beach County Commissioner Warren Newell is sneaking ever so gingerly back into politics, and the good graces of Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.

Newell, who was convicted of felony honest service fraud in 2007 for taking bribes while sitting on the county commission, hand-signed a stack of invitations to a February fundraiser for Bradshaw.

The big wingding is scheduled for Feb. 11 at Cheney Brothers boss Byron Russell‘s palatial hunting lodge in the Ranch Colony neighborhood of Jupiter.

One of those who’s on the mailing list told Gossip Extra he received an invitation that was signed by hand by Newell.

Another received an email from Newell that read: “You should come, Byron’s house is worth the trip.”

“Needless to say, it ended up in the trash,” the source said. “It’s like they think the public doesn’t remember what Newell did. He shouldn’t come within a mile of a political ca

I just don't like to see misinformation spread about a company and family whom I greatly respect and it appeared to me that you were trying to link both to something they are not. The "Palatial Hunting Lodge" is not that at all, it's a private residence and is 2 1/2 hours south of Orlando so there is no connection there either.

I know you will all find this hard to believe, but I worked the FL market back in the 1980's and Cheney was know as CBI.  They were a company for years that stayed the same.  There sales reps had many customers and they were the pros at picking up the $200.00 order and marking it up 30%.  I remember having some beers with friends after work, about 9:00 PM the CBI rep would come into the bar for an order on small cans of juices and sword picks, toothpicks etc.  Forever, they were not a threat, just another company similar to Sexton.  Then one day, they grew up and decided to expand.  From that day forward, they have been been hell on earth!  Many of my friends work for them and would not go anywhere else.  Sure they are cutting pay back and filling territories but what they heck, they have grown most of their business internally, not by acquisition.  None of the folks ahead of them except Gordon's can make such a claim.

Ahhhhh, the days long gone.  I'm done with it all and just kicking back to watch the sun go down.

I've been with CBI for almost 10 years. Every day is great. Byron will let you make as much money you want and gives you the tools to do it. (specialists, in house brokers and so on..) Personally, 20% + growth per year and no margin erosion. Thank you CBI!

The Russell Family. Samuel Wadsworth Russell started as an orphaned apprentice to a maritime trade merchant, made his initial investment capital on trading commissions while working for other traders, and eventually founded Russell and Co., the most powerful American merchant house in China for most of the second half of the 19th Century. He landed in Canton in 1819 and quickly amassed a fortune in the opium trade. His mansion, now known as the Samuel Wadsworth Russell House, still stands in Middletown, Connecticut. Russell's cousin and fellow opium trader, William Huntington Russell, was a co-founder and funder of Yale University's Skull and Bones Society.

You have done your homework again! I was always wondering why Cheney Bros was so connected to the Bahamas. Bravo, Investigator, you followed the money and exposed Byron for the fraud that he is. Except, Byron has found a way to expand Cheney Bros from S. Florida all the way up to the Carolina's?
