Another example of how clueless people in San Francisco are. Just an excuse for rude, lackadaisical and indifferent service. Look for a major downturn in eat-in business and a boost in take-out and also fast food business if this goes into effect.

I was in SF last year and couldn't believe that I had a 'healthcare tax' added to my bill. On top of all the bums, drug addicts and trash on the street that was the straw that broke the camels back. SF is nearly bankrupt and now they want to drive even more business away.

I am of a differing opinion of the other commentors. I actually like it when I am in a chain restaurant like chillis, applebees, etc..and a lady/man in 40's is my server. NOT only are they more helpful and actually smarter than their 20 year old counterpart..they work lots harder. And they DONT ask questions mid biteful. They actually want to have you enjoy your meal..not think it amusing to have to get an asnwer from someone with a mouthfull of tortilla chips/salsa... You 'kids' in your 20's think you are funnier, smarter..etc...but you arent, you are simply under educated and immature. & most, not all, do not have any work ethics. NOW if a smart restaurant manager wanted repeat customers and HAPPY customers, they'd hire late 30's into early 60's. work harder and are grateful to be employed..its win win.

That will be a hard pill for Afro-Americans as they usually do not tip at all!

I know… they never tip. It’s so annoying. Back when I was going to school I first started serving tables, I thought I’d give it a shot even though I heard that they don’t tip. I gave them great service. Still a poor or no tip. And it’s not just the tip that sucks… it’s how they treat you. When you greet them they look at you like your facking retarded with their mouths open . Like… stop looking at me like that… it makes me feel awkward. Then when you take their orders all they do is mumble and talk slang/ghetto and i seriously can’t understand what they are saying half the time. Even after I ask them to repeat themselves a few times.
Another thing, they look for any opportunities to get something for free. “Uhhh, we be waitin here for a long time… is there a way we can get something for free?”
Or this one (which actually happened to me just yesterday) “It’s my birthday is there something i get for free?”
They will also look for any opportunity to complain to the point where they ask for a manager.
They aren’t grateful for anything. I never get a “thank you”. All I get is a “preciate it”. And i’m like, “shut up you don’t appreciate anything.”
I hate serving them.  Just sayin'

This is un f*cking believable!!

If I had known this site was "whites only", I would not have been allowed in.

Examiner?
Don't try and be a responsible new poster/member, talk up Cain as a potential POTUS and then post the two things you did in this thread.

Foodczar?
I thought I could expect better out of you.  "It's the way they treat you."  Really?  How lucky you are to have escaped the plantation you were serving tables in to become a food professional.  Your post is a perfect example of how far we have to go in this country.  It is also a perfect example of why we struggle for middle ground.

I hope, as some time goes by, you two will regret the posts and realize that maybe, just maybe, on this World Wide Web message board, an "Afro-American", or two might be members/reading this.

In replying about my post.  Facts, actual experiences, and statistics are not manufuctured.  Actual happening my friend.  I have never been ont to side step an issue.  These are the facts of life.  I post them as I see them and experience.  I realize that the 'hot button' button in today's society is all about 'race!'  Get over it!  It does not play well in Peoria anymore!  Get a grip and lose the butthurt attitude.  We can't blame Bush on this one.

By the way, this site as I understand it is an 'equal opportunity' blogging site as well.

So let's not get our 'GED" in an uproar and join in and be part of the dialog.

You're a genius!  You actually play the reverse racism race card(it's how they treat you) in one post then ask me to get over the race card?

No one is blaming Bush for this one.  However, I am blaming you for your stereotypes, representing your experiences as facts that would include all African Americans, and for your sophomoric post.

I must be the one exception to your rule.  I tip, starting at 20%, and go up from there.  I'll tip less if the service was horrible.

I hope I get the pleasure of having you wait on me one day.

Wilson,

By referencing the fact that most blacks do not tip does not make me or Foodczar a racist. We are only stating first hand experiences. While in college I delivered pizza and know for a fact that most blacks do not tip or if they do it is usually below the accepted norm.

If I was in fact a racist would I be touting Herman Cain as a potential candidate for POTUS? If you are in fact a black man then you know that a real racist would not in anyway support a black POTUS. You are the one playing the race card.
