Curious as to everyone's take on this announcement regarding a "new" Source GPO.

Looks like they will be able to beat up manufacturers and distributors for lower markups for contract customers. More pressure on street sales reps to raise GP% to offset the new contract pricing.

Endless cycle of pressure on commissions of sales reps, which is why on line ordering will be all the more important as commission to sales percent moves closer to 1%.

It could go either way. I find a lot (if not most) customers don’t like the lack of attention or being locked in to certain products. I guess it depends? You get no sales support at all. I guess it would work for a snack bar or something like that, but for street overall, I have seen many attempt this and regret it. Then they get out of it. It all depends. For most street, it doesn’t work being restricted like that. Also, most don’t like 1 person making money off of them, who has no vested interest in their establishment. Just created a group to take your rebate, under the guise of cheaper price. It’s basically a scam, unless it’s your buddy who’s kicking you something. But even then, you’re better off 99.999% of the time, setting up your own personal deal for your spot(or multiple spots if you have them). We shall see.
