Statement from Department of Justice
Particularly in times of global crisis, the division remains committed to prosecuting crimes intended to raise the prices Americans pay for food,” said Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim of the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. “Executives who cheat American consumers, restauranteurs and grocers, and compromise the integrity of our food supply, will be held responsible for their actions.

Where have these assholes in the DOJ been the past 35 years as that's all that has been happening, the deliberate cheating of American consumers via the sheltered inome mechanism by Sysco , US Foods and the rest.

This statement tells you right off the bat this is a political witch hunt against selected chicken processors who may end up acquired by Tyson which suits Sysco just fine. "intending to raise the price Americans pay for food". Indeed you phoney asshole; if DOJ was serious the entire lot of them would be in handcuffs and the fact they're not is an indication these are selective charges for reasons unrelated to the actual charge which we know DOJ doesnt care about the inflating of food prices.

Im totally shocked anyone would NOT be surprised about this...been in the industry for over 20 years and I believe everyone was aware the poultry industry has been run as tight and manipulated like OPEC is.  Nothing new here.

Tyson and Sanderson were mentioned early on but have since not. The proverbial Dock Market was and has been manipulated for years. When you have a few at the top of any market and those control most if not all production, there will be market manipulation. The big Beef Packers would take a day or two out of the kill floor and drive prices up when they felt like they were not making enough money!
