I know business should not be taken personal but today something hit a nerve of mine and was already in a bad mood. Walked into one of my 100%’ers with one of my competitors. I service this account tremendously and give them fair pricing. Typically, I am content with my business as I work for a prominent Italian distributer so I don’t take much business but after this I went on a dozen cold calls just looking for this single competitor for revenge. Anyone else do that his or am I the crazy wife accusing her husband for hanging the security?

It's your livelihood.  You should take it personally.  Your competitor could care less if you can make your mortgage payment or put food on the table.  Find his weakness and exploit it.

I find revenge or taking business from a competitor to be extremely motivating and satisfying!

I took it very personal! One of my competitors offered their sales reps $100 bounty if they could get any of my accounts (or those of my fellow reps) to switch. Needless to say, none of them did. We knew who had what in our territory, so we knew who was vulnerable and went after those accounts.

If you're an Italian distributor, your competitor went in with low-ball prices on Stanislaus tomato products, pizza flour and mozzarella. He'll figure to make his money on things like paper, chemicals and equipment.

Its hard not to take it personal. We just lost one of our sales reps to the competition, and he is now sending reps from the new company after our accounts. I have one guy in particular following me everywhere. Fortunately he hasn't done much damage, because I have great relationships with most of my customers - but I am returning the favor by following him around and showing up in all of his accounts. Also I don't think we are ever truly 100% in any account - so we should never get complacent or comfortable that we are secure in any situation. Especially in this current market/culture.
