Talking to a couple customers yesterday and there is a rumor going around the area that Sysco management and Amazon management has been talking about a buyout. Talking about using sysco warehouses for fresh, perishable, and heavy canned items and using Amazon's fulfillment centers for small wares and smaller, easier to ship dry items (spices, toothpicks, coffee decanters)

Anyone else hearing anything?

Sales reps at Sysco are 3% to 4% towards their EBITA. If they could eliminate that cost, they would without blinking.

However, neither of those scenarios suggested help the shareholders long term, only short term.

After PFG acquisition of Reinhart, expect a merger between Shamrock and Gordons. The two are close allies and it makes sense!

Amazon will then pick up USF scraps and their technology will easily be merged. Run to small independents if you can.

Amazon is technically already in the food service business via Whole Foods.  All they need is a delivery platform and customers will flock to them.  The Amazon order entry system is already perfected and everyone knows how to use it.  USF would be the default distributor for the OPS piece. Chain business would stay with the Systems companies.  Makes perfect sense.

Sysco, PFG and USF will buy up the independents just to get them out of the way.

I think you got the company wrong.
Sysco is too large to be acquired.
USFOODS on the other hand can be acquired fo $10Billion. Petty Cash for Amazon.
US systems are much better than Sysco.....and the deal could be done in about 20 minutes.
One way or another something is going to happen
