Sysco CT continues to downsize as at least two more inside people and 1 12 year Vet were terminated this week.  This is from a company that can't wait to open another fold out in Long Island.  Sysco also disbanded an entire district in the northern Fairfield County area.  The DSM is now an MA.  Last week they Terminated an 8 year vet.  They don't care where the ax falls. Both of these tenured MA's were fathers of at least 3 kids.  SYSCO always talks about how much disarray the competition is in.  SYSCO CT is in a free fall as we speak.

Those two MAs will be back in their accounts with their new company. Be prepared to lose them.

Russo gets laid off and Cook gets to stay? Nice call, Jeffy and McFakin. By the way, nice speech McFakin about the rough road ahead for SYSCO and pulling in the reins. Hey Scott - when you gonna realize Cook's been playing you? Bedi and Timothy have been doing it with smoke, mirrors and Cook's help for years to inflate their numbers. Bedi had Cook suspended for racial comments years ago and now he's Cook's pet - great. Maybe Cook was right. Pressure gettin' to you, Jeffy, Golden Boy-child of Fraser's loins? Sarcasm and drinking bro's can only go so far, then the real world catches up with you and shows you for what you are. Too many will have already been screwed by you before it catches up with you, though. BTW - Michael Scott from "The Office" is based on Jeffy.

As a follow up.  Don't believe the garbage about SYSCO being a company that cares about families.  They care about the 5% of the big writers families.  Don't ever speak your mind at SYSCO or you'll be pounding sand like the people who are being moved along like cattle being sent to the buckhead slaughter house.  It's tough to know who one should back up their customers or their company.  Just remember the customers drive the comany.  SYSCO thinks they drive the customers.  I wonder if the shareholders of SYSCO would be interested to know of their desperate moves as they release MA after MA and they lose 1 million in business per MA.  If SYSCO would show the loyalty to their MA's and LISTEN to what is going on on the street they could probably increase their sales without having to open 1000 new accounts per year.  PENETRATION is easier than new business.  What a REVELATION

FSVet is absolutely right.  Sysco be prepare to lose alot of business.  This OpCo has operated like this for years using talented MAs then discarding them.  Stupidily McFakin thinks that his sales reps are commodity items.  Now that we are in more challenging times it is impacting hardworking, under paid MAs even more because of unskilled mgmt.  "Not so fat boy" and his group of flunkies may buy themselves some time but it will eventually catch up with them.  Keep pissing off MAs and they will devour your business.

The Rocky Hill location did well for a few years because there was little opposition locally. There was a weak USF house in South Windsor, HPC, Springfield Foodservice, Better Brands and Multi Foods/Roma. In the last 6 years, USF left the South Windsor location and combined in Norwich, HPC moved into the old USF location, SFC bought by PFG who absorbed Roma last year. These moves have made each of them stronger in the New England region making it harder for the Rocky Hill Sysco location to be a power house it thought it once was.

I heard he will be getting a lot of money.  He'll need it though.  Chasing $$$'s now chasing your future later.  Good Luck.

Changing the way you go to market?  How is that positive since sales costs are getting higher.  Is that how you make up for margin, lost business?  Just make sure you get your bonuses, especially that head count bonus.  Fiscal year is closing in are you sure you hired enough reps to make up for the defections and firings?  It would be different if you hired talent but it is obvious that is not the case.  Mac just make sure your bread is buttered and continue to screw your salespeople!  Can't wait to hear those survey results!

Cube, The highlighted text above caught my attention. It is true that the same tired and useless sales reps bounce from one local food company to another bringing with them bad habits and poor attitudes. The good reps usually stay put as long as they are treated fairly. What you may begin to see shortly is the thousands of "New" talent out there that are changing careers due to the current economic situation. Many hard working professionals out of work are going back to school and retraining for new opportunities. Lets just hope that the management in our industry recognizes the possible benefit to having new blood in the pipeline. Yes, there will be a learning curve at first, but think of the good that can come from finally flushing the non performing bad eggs out of our industry.

Things were no better in Cleveland in 06.  I was a vet of 19 years with 2 Tourch Bearer years and was Salesmen of the Year once along with being in the top Ten in Sales for no less than 10 of those years. After  1 1/2 years as a DSM that turned a dead District back in to a winner I became Ill and was put back in the street as an MA.  In less than a Year I went from having the respect of my pears to being Fired and told I didn't know what I was doing by my DSM who was an "ASS KISSING SOB".  With in a year of being fired I had to have a life saving Liver Transplant.  Don't think Sysco is a family company they don't care about there Ma's even though with out them there is no Sysco.

When will you guys learn? Sysco is selling a myth. They claim their service cannot be matched by any other competitor. This is absolutely false. The strong independent in the CT market outservices them each and every day, and Sysco knows it. At Sysco a salesperson is a number. They put X number on the street as dictated by corporate. They sell X amount, of which x% has to be Sysco label product. Look at Sysco's 3d quarter numbers. Dollar sales DOWN 4.5%. Net profit DOWN 6%. Inflation of product  up 3.3%.
Cases out the door DOWN 7.8%.
