Not much difference. Same BS, different labels. It's no longer about selling food and supplies and wheeling and dealing. Now it's "Look at all these things you can buy (from third-party vendors) to help you run your business".

Put all your customers online. See them once or twice a month to show new items and talk about their business. Meanwhile, the local independents are in your accounts every week takng your business.

It hasn't been fun for the last five or more years.

Even the smaller independents are becoming horrible with our attempts to make us more like Sysco. Put every customer online is our #1 priority!

Perhaps you work for a smaller independent that is in negotiations right now with Sysco or USF to be bought.

Not that I wish that on anyone.

However, during a negotiation sometimes, the acquiring company (Sysco, USF, Beelzebub Foods, whatever) will make some requests of the company to be acquired in order for the deal to be finalized.  Automation is one thing.  Head count reduction or restructuring is another.  Etc.
