Just moved back to this area, what's the word on US Foods Iowa? I hear it's a mess. Any word out there?

If whatever distributor you are looking to work for starts with the words "US Foods", you can be it's in one of three conditions....

1 - totally f-ed up.
2 - somewhat f-ed up (and only getting worse)
3 - on it's way to being f-ed up

Too many directives coming out of Rosemont that are not very customer or employee friendly.

Option #1 is in the lead. What is driving this downward movement = Leadership, particularly in the mid-management, directors & managers. Unqualified individuals making important decisions.
Second driving force is accountability or lack of.
The Director of Marketing needs to seriously evaluate the tag line, "Customer First"

I have to agree. Most of the people in Rosemont don't a #10 can from a ladle. DSMs are primarily concerned about how their TMs actions (off-days, under minimums, etc) affect their bonus. Only those who have drink the Kool-Aid get any leads. Others are left to fend for themselves.

There is little to no product training for new TMs. Management thinks that TMs can cold call an account and immediately launch into the canned spiel about VAS and all the wonderful things that it can do for a customer.

The main concern for Pietro and senior management is shareholder dividends, and a possible merger with another company. Then they'll all get their golden parachutes, and skip merrily away to the next company.

Well Crayons and FSVET, you all definitely know what you are talking about - because those are exactly the issues facing the employees and customers of US Foods.
Pretty pathetic that such an easy business model can be made so complicated by people getting paid so much money.
