I don't know what is going on here. I am getting attacked  by competition from so many competitors. My management team seems totally confused as to what we can do. They keep saying tell my customers how great our Dot com is and Scoop.

Are they for Real?  Customers are interested in lower prices not all the stories I tell them.[image]

New Jersey Bill Would Limit Non-Compete Agreements

[New-Jersey-300x300]A bill in the New Jersey Senate, Senate Bill 3518 (“SB 3518”), and an identical companion bill in the New Jersey Assembly (Assembly Bill 5261), would significantly curtail the use of non-compete agreements in New Jersey.  In an article posted on our website, Cliff Atlas, Kevin Miller and Colin Thakkar analyze SB 3518 and pose key questions about the impact and wisdom of the proposed legislation.  While certain recent reports have suggested that employers overuse or abuse non-compete agreements against even low-level employees, that conclusion is inconsistent with our overall experience.  It is unclear how the legislature would be better equipped than the courts to combat improper use or abuse of non-compete agreements in particular cases.  These and other questions will undoubtedly be addressed, and hopefully answered, during the upcoming legislative proceedings.

Your customers want better pricing, better quality and on-time (and complete) deliveries.  All of which they can get from other distributors right now.  That seems to be the missing link for those Missing Links in charge at the local, regional and national levels of USF.........

Peddler, don't you know we're not foodservice sales reps any more. We are now consultants "helping our customers make it." [rofl] I know your customers want to know what your price is on Heinz Ketchup, but our masters in Rosemont want us to push online ordering, Valued Added Services and Scoop. We are now the sales force for Chow Now, Avero, Expandshare, etc and all the other crap they want us to push. Too bad these companies don't pay us for selling their products. Also, your customers don't have to buy from USF to use these services.

Meanwhile, the independents in your area are picking off cases in your accounts because they're sitting down with the chef taking his order in person.

When has a commission change ever benefited the sale force? Suffice to say, we're going to get screwed. Remember, now that we're a public company, the shareholders are the main reason we do anything. If they don't get their dividends, we get it in the shorts.

Our Area VP of Sales says the new plan will happen sometime in Q2. I'm not sure how they'll compute our salaries. Our biggest writer did $32 million last year. It will probably include: EB sales, IR accounts, cases and AR % current.

You are so right about under 40. USF wants  sales people looking to be lead around like a puppy on a leash. The sales here are down again for another month. The management just don't get it. I can't figure out why nothing is being done here.

Pietro is so proud of his Harvard MBA. Why does he keep the losers running this branch here. Is he really that smart? Not if he keeps the team in place the way it is.

Can someone please let me know. Is it because the little Guy came here at a bargain price? He likes  Ky because he counts beans and follows his Corp game plan?   Did he get Ky at a bargain sale. How about Tagart? Why is he still here. He could not find his way out of a one way tunnel. He stays in Delaware with his boys. The whole gang of them are just a bunch of losers riding it our as long as they can.

What USF wants is twenty-something robots that they can pay 50-60K a year, plus kickers, who will spout the party line (We hope you make it) and sell Value Added Services. Selling food and supplies is now secondary (except for Scoop) to selling Avero, Chow Now, Homebase, ExpandShare and other things that most restaurants don't really need.

Don't worry about the independents coming in and taking your cases. You are now a consultant who is helping your customer manage his inventory, payroll and personnel using our Value Added Services. If you happen to sell a case of mayo or boxed beef, that's a bonus.

You are SPOT ON. When USF changed their tag line from "Food. Food People. Easy." to "Great Food, Made Easy" it was evident who would suffer - the PEOPLE. After they excised all the local Merchandising folks (the actual "Food PEOPLE"), they made it abundantly clear who was now important: the investors.

The vision was good, the execution is a wreck.

Good Morning Philly managers

I hope you rested well, because today is  going to be special. You get to spend the day with Your Midget, the VP of sales. He will be able to tell of each of you that he thinks you are worthless bunch of fools. He will humiliate each of you one at a time.  Asking each of you why sales are down again and you explain to him the reason. Then you can tell him how many new customers you are dreaming  of opening up in the next 30 days, most of that is Bull SH.T.

Then the Abuser(C.T.) will jump in to pound on you some more. He will make you feel like a jackass. You will sit there and listen to him and be thinking to yourself that the Midget and Abuser are just 2 people who you despise. Wishing that they would stop beating on you and move to the next manager, you look at them straight in the eye and think you got to just sit there and take your whopping for only a few more minute's. Your blood pressure will jump and your heart is raising while these beating continues. Finally they move to the next manager and the steam is pouring out of your body. You sit there and think to your self, I have got to get out of here before they destroy me.

So just enjoy your day with these two and Friday you can look at your sales teams and tell them to please sell Scoop. You just pray they sell Scoop so that the Midget does not tell you again you are a failure.

We all sat thru another Scoop to hear the same nonsense from Ky. He stood up there and told us he only wanted positive  energy. I find it amazing that you think we are just that simple bunch of fools/ Jackasses.
Can you not see what is going on. The company is going to cut the sales force in numbers and then 30 % salary. Sound positive to me, really. You want us to raise prices and give service to our customers that is unacceptable.  You asked each department what they need to improve Moral. A suggestion is to get rid of Speed, Hetzel, Jason and TAGART.
,
You have a team surrounding you that is not helping us. Your Purchasing leader is clueless and arrogant to us. Transportation is all about themselves. The VP of sales is just a nasty little guy who just keeps saying all day to us "Here is what I ask of You". He just keeps writing rebates and gives away money to get customers. BY the way, the money he is giving away is the money that you are taking out of OUR pay.

Ky, I hope your Boss, Jim, is reading this. He sat in the meeting today and my only question is what is he thinking. I hope HE is wondering why USF has a management team in place that is a failure.

The beatings will continue until moral improves.

THAT, my friends, is the USF way.

Look, let's understand one thing, for a publicly-traded company, deference will always be paid to the stockholder.
BUT...there are better ways to get them the ROIs they want than stripping a food company of people that know how to buy, sell and deliver food.
However, we all live in a "now!" world.
Investors are not interested in 5 year and 10 year plans.  Sure, they will listen to your 5 year "vision", but it better include 1 year quick turnarounds on better GP, better ratios, and all the other metrics one uses to measure a company.

So, at the end of the day, until food people decide to take back the food distribution business, this trend will continue.
