I left USF 3 years ago and would not want to go back. Why would I? Cookbook is more important than sales. Points of Focus is a joke 75% of your sales need to be keyed online. Not much fun to be had or money to be made.

This whole company is going to hell.   Selling what we can supposedly do for customers through third-party vendors (Avero, Chow Now, Menu Engineering) is more important than selling food.

New reps are brainwashed with this new crap. They have no idea how to sell ketchup or green beans. They get upset when prospects don't let them go through their canned speech, and want to know what's our price on mayo.

Not all customers want to go on dotcom. They want to place their order with their rep. Smaller broadliners, Restaurant Depot and Costco Business are taking away business, and nobody seems to care.

Points of Focus was gutted and now we get half of what we used to.

Why, US Foods?

I've written it before, and I'll write it again - this is what happens when non-foodservice people try to run foodservice companies.

You had Larry Benjamin.  Of course, he inherited a mess after the scandal.  He had a manufacturing background.  But he began the whole data analysis-style decision making process.  To hell with what the customers want.  We'll TELL them what they want - and close code the rest.

Then you had John Lederer.  Retail guy.

Now you have a man that used to manage the frequent flyer miles for Canadian Airlines.

While I oversimplify their roles BEFORE they arrived at US Foodservice, you get the point.

You do over simplify. Larry Benjamin had a long history in looting food companies but his profile is that of a Wall Street shark. He worked as a partner at Oak Hill Capital Management and worked along side of Myron Scholes, the Nobel prize winner in economics in 1997 for creating the Black-Scholes model for derivatives trading. Scholes was hailed a "genius". In 1998 the giant hedge fund managed by John Merriweather took massive losses (while employing the Black Scholes mathematical formula)  on the Russian GKO bonds and LTM's collapse nearly brought the financial system to collapse ( a precursor of the 2008-2010 derivatives collapse and bail out).
Benjamin is generally credited with selling the USF carcass to KKR in 2007 for $7.1 billion. He also worked for Roarke Capital (named after a character from an Ayn Rand novel--Wilson Tennis will love that).

Everyone sitting atop of food distribution is there to suck the cash out to be used in their quadrillion dollar derivatives scam.

Good to see you back, Anton. Things are going to Hell (no pun intended) at La Mirada. Late trucks, major shorts and outs, and nobody in management seems to care.

We're all looking forward to the new "salary-plus" commission plan next year. Say goodbye to six-figure salaries.

HA.  This isn't news. This is how USF LA has been operating for years.
I've been gone for almost 9 years and this is exactly the way it was when I left. [rolleyes] Losers.
