So over the past week all I’ve been seeing is a bunch of you people bashing USF and Sysco, but pretty much USF. It needs to stop. This a tough time for everyone in this business from sales reps , warehouse workers to drivers (which I am). If you think that USF or SYSCO is going to cut you then apparently your not that good at what you do. I bust my ass day in and day out and while I did get cut on my hrs, I know I’m safe with the company. Also if you think is a great idea to go to a smaller independent company, I say go for it. You will only end up working for USF or Sysco again. So I ask all you stop bitching and complaining about everything right now. It’s already stressful enough

Driver, I think the warehouse, drivers and office people are pretty safe, but this is going to be a chance for the big companies (USF, Sysco, PFG, Gordon, Cheney) to weed out non-hackers in the sales force and put more customers online. I know the USF/Sysco model is to have fewer reps handling more accounts. It's a crappy situation all the way around, but shareholder dividends and corporate bonuses are more important than paying salespeople.

Your opinions are irrelevant and already you have been proven wrong. Your jaded. We get it.

Thanks for your hard work driver.

As a driver unless you’re at the very top of the seniority list in your house you aren’t as safe as you may think. 20% laid off (in a union house) where I’m at last Fri with another huge cut coming this week. We’re cutting down to 4 day a week operation, not shipping anything W/S/Su, and even then only have 10 or so routes running each day.

Doesn’t matter how hard you work. Doesn’t matter what you’ve done for them in the past. We’re all just a number and when shtf corporate will make them cut every variable expense they possibly can to cut their losses.

This is a weird world.
i fully believe our management (Sysco & USFD)is trying to do their best to keep people working.
hotels are running at 10% restaurants are down 90% in sales.....be grateful if you still have a job and try to be positive.

Foodservicedriver20....

Layoffs will happen and they will be seniority based.... it does not matter how hard you work.  if you have high seniority then you are somewhat safe.

Please do not think that there will not be layoffs, you need to be prepared.

Let me tell you this Mr. Driver. Sales people at USF and Sysco have no protection from the management. They treat them with no respect and don't care about anything but Profits. If you did not have a Union you would be treated the same as a sales rep.

Just remember this about USF, no Dividends are paid out, just management bonuses big time. All you lower level folks giving them your blood makes them get the bonus and you get ZERO!

Is that you, Pietro?!?

First of all, EVERYONE needs a place to vent.  If some people choose this forum, so be it.  If you don't like what's written - grow the f*** up and don't read it!

Sysco Houston: Had two conference calls today for their sellers one at 10:30am & 12pm. OpCo President told the first conference attendees they were being laid off, 2nd conference attendees were told they made the cut.

We’re living in Ruthless times for the foodservice industry!
